Title: CODA (Songs of Submission #9)
Author: CD Reiss
Genre: Erotic, Contemporary Romance
Length: 201 pages
Rating: 5 stars

Did you want a pat little ending about Jonathan and I riding off into the sunset? Did you want flowers and stars? Man, I wish it was all soft filters and violins. I wish we could fight about who cleaned the bathroom or who was cooking dinner. But I knew I was never destined for simple contentment.
I almost committed murder for him. I almost tore us apart to save him. How do you get back on the horse after that? Because, I promise you, nothing is the same. Nothing.
I’ve earned our happily ever after. Now I have to survive it.
Since all three of us read the Songs of Submission series together as a group read, we each wanted to share our thoughts on this book.

JONATHAN IS BACK!!!! PRAISE KING JONATHAN!!!
Like Jonathan’s heart, I could take much more sadness and pain after Sing. And if you are expecting Jonathan to be good as new with his new heart, think again. While he is functioning as a healthy adult, the threat to his health is always there, and like his heartbeat, there is a deafening ticking countdown until his replacement heart gives out.
So how does a couple that previously lived a very intensely sexual relationship move forward after a near death experience? They move very cautiously. *snore* Not the couple we’ve come to know and love, right? I was a bit nervous when the book started. Vanilla sex is NOT this couple. But have no fear, Dominant Jonathan rears his take-charge head and he will not take no for an answer!
GOD BLESS!!!
“If I so much as look at your knees, you get on them and open your fucking mouth.”
The scene at 10%, OH MY GOD!!! I immediately started texting my girls, YaYa and Michelle, who were doing with a group read with me. I got back all the feels I had when I first read this series, straight to my vagina! But damn, I feel a bit sorry for the state of Monica’s . . . (I’ll let you figure that one out for yourself).
This book explores how the couple move forward in their marriage, with Jonathan’s new heart and Monica’s growing career, and still return to their previous sexual game of pleasure and pain.
Just like this couple, this story hits on pleasure and pain, for the reader. The pleasure coming in the form of anything Jonathan does to put Monica back in her place. Damn, when that man sets his mind to it, he rules the bedroom like no one else. I don’t think I could personally handle the things that he does to Monica, but reading it on paper, I was immensely turned on.
Then there is the pain. This comes in two forms.
There is the pain of this couple worrying about Jonathan’s health. How many years do they have together? How would Monica survive without him?
Then there is Monica’s own personal pain. I won’t give this away either, but its a very emotional event and will likely bring tears. How Jonathan reacts and what he has to do for her during that time is heartbreaking.
This couple does get their HEA. But more importantly, they find a way to recapture the intense passion that was missing from their marriage. Jonathan is large and in charge, and I wouldn’t want it any other way.

👆👆👆What she said!!!
Oh King Jonathan, how do I love thee, let me count the ways…the ways I will let you RUIN me. You skipped out on me for a minute there King. Had me all worried. You know that vanilla flavor is horrible tasting. I knew you’d come to your senses. Take back what is yours and give your Goddess Monica what she deserves and what she craved. Boy did she miss you. I was so sad to read her thoughts. I was devastated after what happened. “TANGERINE”…that broke me. I felt like Moses parting the red sea and the it coming back to close on me. I’m drowning. Why?! *sniffles*
I didn’t lose hope. I was more worried for them. Jonathan is finally back and how will the knew problems affect him? Affect him and Monica? His health?
If you’ve been keeping up with this series you should know to trust King Drazen and most of all CD Reiss. She always delivers. No cute pink bow ties or perfectly wrapped present with some cheesy paper, no she gives it to you Raw and out the box. Ready to crush your feelings along with your vagina. I’m not sorry. I’ve said this many many times. Jonathan Drazen is the destroyer of Ovaries, props extraordinaire. This man walks into a room and you can see the panties flying at him. Just picture this with a mental image of Michael Fassbender aka the Ginger God.
I guess I can drop my mic now. I am all out of words. Oh the Sexy Times scene at around 40%😳 *let us pray* Lord forgive us for we have sinned and masturbated to his book. I don’t blame CD, bless her little heart and mind for delivering her words straight to our hearts and vaginas. I’ll pray that others are smarter and before they read Coda, stock up on booze and batteries. Amen.
(CD Reiss, I may just love you a little bit more now. Thank You for sharing that experience with us❤️)

After Sing, I wasn’t sure how I was going to handle Coda. I was thinking to myself, how are Monica and Jonathan going to adjust to their new lifestyle when they are still at that “honeymoon” stage of their relationship with a new heart? This couple is definitely not vanilla, that’s for damn sure.
King Jonathan comes out of his vanilla funk in all his glory. Holy hell, I again agree with Grace that scene at 10% I was literally putty. Goddess Monica got her some Dominant Jonathan during that scene and then some. Pain plus pleasure equals many orgasms. Lucky girl!
“I haven’t told you this in a long time, so I want to remind you. You are mine. Any time. Any place. Without questions. You get on your knees when I say. You spread your legs when I say. You open your mouth and take whatever I put in it. Do you understand?”
During the book, you sense how pensive Monica really is regarding Jonathan’s health. Their life together is so precarious and fragile. My heart went out to her. There was a point in the book that I totally lost it and was texting the girls and cursing up a storm. As much as Jonathan is a Dominant, when his loving side comes out, you just want to crawl into your e-reader and hug him.
I adore this couple so much. I missed them tremendously. They are that IT couple for me. I did not want Coda to end. I need more of King Jonathan and Goddess Monica.

*An ARC was received for an honest review.

“You know what, Monica, you don’t even know yourself. Look at you. I haven’t seen you this relaxed in months. The only time you let your worry go is when you give me control. And your worry is what keeps you from being honest.”
I swallowed. Blinked. A torrent of wetness welled behind my eyes, “I don’t want to break the scene.”
“Stay still. Stay naked. Speak your mind.”
“I almost died with you a hundred times. That recovery room, they had you in this induced coma and you looked dead. There were bags of blood. Bags, hanging over you and you were all opened up. And, I’m sorry, I haven’t said this because you’re the one who went through it.” I swallowed a gallon of tears. “I don’t want to see you like that again. But I think about it all the time. I dream about it. I see it when I close my eyes. I want you to live, so I do what I think is going to make you happy and I always get it wrong. Stay or go. I give you attention or none. It’s always wrong.”
“What about your happiness?”
“It doesn’t matter. Not as much as yours. It’s not life or death.”
“It is, Monica. It is.”
I shook my head. “You can’t convince me of that. We can do this hurtful honesty thing all day. You’re the priority and I’m okay with that. Deal with it.”
He nodded, looking down for a blink, then up at me. He reached for my wrists.
“These go behind your back.”
I did as instructed.
“Now, get on your knees.”
I bent them. With my hands behind my back, it was hard to balance.
“Do you need some help?” he asked.
“Yes.”
I thought he’d take me gently by the elbow, but dragged me down. He was right. I was relaxed, totally submitting and trusting him, loving every bit of discomfort he dished out.
“Spread your knees apart.”
I did, too slowly for him. He kicked them wide.
“Do you remember your safeword?” He asked, unbuckling his belt.
“Yes.” A tingling rush went down my spine with the promise of his dominance and the way it made me forget how fragile he really was.
His cock was out in the next second. “Open. Your. Mouth.”

CD Reiss is a USA Today and Amazon bestseller. She still has to chop wood and carry water, which was buried in the fine print. Her lawyer is working it out with God but in the meantime, if you call and she doesn’t pick up, she’s at the well, hauling buckets.
Born in New York City, she moved to Hollywood, California to get her master’s degree in screenwriting from USC. In case you want to know, that went nowhere, but it did embed TV story structure in her head well enough for her to take a big risk on a TV series structured erotic series called Songs of Submission. It’s about a kinky billionaire hung up on his ex-wife, an ingenue singer with a wisecracking mouth; art, music and sin in the city of Los Angeles.
Critics have dubbed the books “poetic,” “literary,” and “hauntingly atmospheric,” which is flattering enough for her to put it in a bio, but embarrassing enough for her not to tell her husband, or he might think she’s some sort of braggart who’s too good to give the toilets a once-over every couple of weeks or chop a cord of wood.
If you meet her in person, you should call her Christine.
