About

CD Reiss is a USA Today and Amazon bestseller. She still has to chop wood and carry water, which was buried in the fine print. Her lawyer is working it out with God but in the meantime, if you call and she doesn’t pick up, she’s at the well, hauling buckets.

Born in New York City, she moved to Hollywood, California to get her master’s degree in screenwriting from USC. In case you want to know, that went nowhere, but it did embed TV story structure in her head well enough for her to take a big risk on a TV series structured erotic series called Songs of Submission. It’s about a kinky billionaire hung up on his ex-wife, an ingenue singer with a wisecracking mouth; art, music and sin in the city of Los Angeles.

Critics have dubbed the books “poetic,” “literary,” and “hauntingly atmospheric,” which is flattering enough for her to put it in a bio, but embarrassing enough for her not to tell her husband, or he might think she’s some sort of braggart who’s too good to give the toilets a once-over every couple of weeks or chop a cord of wood.

If you meet her in person, you should call her Christine.

Synopsis

I am not hurt.

I don’t need a second chance with him, or a life I thought I had.

While he was out forgetting me to become a movie star, I was building a career out of nothing. A career as a paparazzi, but a career. For a foster kid who bounced around every home in Los Angeles, that wasn’t easy.

This camera is all I have.

He’s nothing to me. Every time I take his picture and sell it, I remind myself that I did it all without him or his approval, his cinnamon smell or his clear green eyes. He lights up the screen like a celestial body, but he’s nothing but a paycheck to me.

He can throw my camera off a balcony, and nothing has to change. We can stay king and queen of the same city, and different worlds.

Except this is Hollywood, and here, anything can happen.

Grace Review

When I first discovered CD Reiss’ Songs of Submission series, I was blown away, with its addictive storyline that was raw, fresh, and highly erotic.  Since then, with Songs of Perdition and Songs of Corruption, she showed depth to her rawness.  Exposing characters that were mentally or morally flawed, yet convincing you that they were worth of more.

In this genre turn, the author steps away from her erotic roots and shows her skills as a writer, holds no bounds.  This story takes us to Hollywood were talent and determination win awards, with everyone around is loudly cheering for one’s success, while at the same time, quietly cheering for one’s downfall.  And there to capture that downfall, are the dreaded paparazzi.  Everyone hates them.  Yet, it’s sad to admit, each magazine we buy, each time we click their pictures, we keep them employed.  But they are scum.  They have no respect for privacy or feelings.

So what does our edgy author do?  Well, she makes that paparazzi scum, the heroine of the story.  Am I supposed to hate Laine?  On principle, I should.  Yet, the author paints her story, an empty loveless childhood with no true home, with horrific acts caught on someone else’s film.  So despite her profession, I liked Laine throughout this story.  How she makes something of her life, seemed plausible.  It’s not really a rags to riches turn, but she finds success her own way and is good at doing what she does.

I totally bought into the storyline. with a pap, crossing the line of their profession, and making a connection with a celebrity.  It’s not insta-lust.  No, the story between Laine and Michael, is more of a second chance romance.  As casual acquaintances in high school, there was always attraction.  But they were from different worlds, and their time together, simply ran out.  Fast forward years later, when they are still from different worlds, but their time together is what they make of it.  And this is when you will fall for Michael.  He is downright persistent, never walking away, no matter how much Laine tries to push him.

This story also hits on that one thing every celebrity probably thinks about the paparazzi: what if this was you, what if your flaws, heartbreak, downfalls, were caught on camera.

How can you fear what you own?
How can you be intimidated by what’s inside yourself?  By a city that nursed you to adulthood?

As I read Laine’s secrets unfold and become exposed, I kept hoping it would all blow over.  But this author doesn’t make it easy for the reader or her characters.  While my heart hurt for Laine and Michael, I also understood their reactions.  It all felt so real.

With strong character development and a well plotted storyline, the author exposes a new side of herself.  The shock and explicit moments are gone, with the bones of a story carefully laid out.  Each piece carefully comes together to an ending worthy of the front page.

The author’s secret is out, and if you weren’t paying attention before, it’s time you do so now.

SIDE NOTE: Claire Contreras gets a shout-out in the book as one of Michael’s co-actors, which I just loved!

Excerpt

I stroked his hair, waist deep in peace, all worry gone for the moment, and floating in no more than an ocean of gratitude. I must have been more vulnerable than I realized, or he’d reopened some wound with his kindness, because though my sweet reverie stayed, as the minutes passed, a layer of need fitted itself on top of it.

I needed to tell him, if not the details, the outlines of who I was.

“I want you to know,” I whispered, starting somewhere small, then everything I didn’t want to say spilled out. “I have stuff. I’ve never been to jail, but you know, it’s stuff, and it’s ugly, and it scares me. Because, I mean, you’re so perfect, and I’m… I’m just a mess. I’m not whole. I’m a bunch of pieces of a person I cobbled together.” My eyes got wet when I thought of the comparisons between us and that picture in my silverware drawer. “So if you have to move on when you realize that, I’ll understand. You have an image, and if anyone understands protecting a career, it’s me. I mean, I’ll be mad, don’t get that wrong, but also.” I swallowed and blinked, shifting my head so he wouldn’t feel the tear on his forehead. “I won’t blame you.”

I waited for an answer. Anything. A change in position or a word on any subject. The weather. Sports. Something. But all he did was breathe.

I smiled so wide, tears fell into my mouth. He was sleeping.

Title: CODA (Songs of Submission #9)
Author: CD Reiss
Genre: Erotic, Contemporary Romance
Length: 201 pages
Rating: 5 stars

Synopsis

Did you want a pat little ending about Jonathan and I riding off into the sunset? Did you want flowers and stars? Man, I wish it was all soft filters and violins. I wish we could fight about who cleaned the bathroom or who was cooking dinner. But I knew I was never destined for simple contentment.

I almost committed murder for him. I almost tore us apart to save him. How do you get back on the horse after that? Because, I promise you, nothing is the same. Nothing.

I’ve earned our happily ever after. Now I have to survive it.

Since all three of us read the Songs of Submission series together as a group read, we each wanted to share our thoughts on this book.

Grace Review

JONATHAN IS BACK!!!! PRAISE KING JONATHAN!!!

Like Jonathan’s heart, I could take much more sadness and pain after Sing. And if you are expecting Jonathan to be good as new with his new heart, think again. While he is functioning as a healthy adult, the threat to his health is always there, and like his heartbeat, there is a deafening ticking countdown until his replacement heart gives out.

So how does a couple that previously lived a very intensely sexual relationship move forward after a near death experience? They move very cautiously. *snore* Not the couple we’ve come to know and love, right? I was a bit nervous when the book started. Vanilla sex is NOT this couple. But have no fear, Dominant Jonathan rears his take-charge head and he will not take no for an answer!

GOD BLESS!!!

“If I so much as look at your knees, you get on them and open your fucking mouth.”

The scene at 10%, OH MY GOD!!! I immediately started texting my girls, YaYa and Michelle, who were doing with a group read with me. I got back all the feels I had when I first read this series, straight to my vagina! But damn, I feel a bit sorry for the state of Monica’s . . . (I’ll let you figure that one out for yourself).

This book explores how the couple move forward in their marriage, with Jonathan’s new heart and Monica’s growing career, and still return to their previous sexual game of pleasure and pain.

Just like this couple, this story hits on pleasure and pain, for the reader. The pleasure coming in the form of anything Jonathan does to put Monica back in her place. Damn, when that man sets his mind to it, he rules the bedroom like no one else. I don’t think I could personally handle the things that he does to Monica, but reading it on paper, I was immensely turned on.

Then there is the pain. This comes in two forms.
There is the pain of this couple worrying about Jonathan’s health. How many years do they have together? How would Monica survive without him?
Then there is Monica’s own personal pain. I won’t give this away either, but its a very emotional event and will likely bring tears. How Jonathan reacts and what he has to do for her during that time is heartbreaking.

This couple does get their HEA. But more importantly, they find a way to recapture the intense passion that was missing from their marriage. Jonathan is large and in charge, and I wouldn’t want it any other way.

– Grace

YaYa's Review

👆👆👆What she said!!!
Oh King Jonathan, how do I love thee, let me count the ways…the ways I will let you RUIN me. You skipped out on me for a minute there King. Had me all worried. You know that vanilla flavor is horrible tasting. I knew you’d come to your senses. Take back what is yours and give your Goddess Monica what she deserves and what she craved. Boy did she miss you. I was so sad to read her thoughts. I was devastated after what happened. “TANGERINE”…that broke me. I felt like Moses parting the red sea and the it coming back to close on me. I’m drowning. Why?! *sniffles*

I didn’t lose hope. I was more worried for them. Jonathan is finally back and how will the knew problems affect him? Affect him and Monica? His health?

If you’ve been keeping up with this series you should know to trust King Drazen and most of all CD Reiss. She always delivers.  No cute pink bow ties or perfectly wrapped present with some cheesy paper, no she gives it to you Raw and out the box.  Ready to crush your feelings along with your vagina. I’m not sorry. I’ve said this many many times. Jonathan Drazen is the destroyer of Ovaries, props extraordinaire. This man walks into a room and you can see the panties flying at him. Just picture this with a mental image of Michael Fassbender aka the Ginger God.

I guess I can drop my mic now. I am all out of words. Oh the Sexy Times scene at around 40%😳 *let us pray* Lord forgive us for we have sinned and masturbated to his book. I don’t blame CD, bless her little heart and mind for delivering her words straight to our hearts and vaginas. I’ll pray that others are smarter and before they read Coda, stock up on booze and batteries. Amen.

(CD Reiss, I may just love you a little bit more now. Thank You for sharing that experience with us❤️)

– YaYa

Michelle's Review

After Sing, I wasn’t sure how I was going to handle Coda. I was thinking to myself, how are Monica and Jonathan going to adjust to their new lifestyle when they are still at that “honeymoon” stage of their relationship with a new heart? This couple is definitely not vanilla, that’s for damn sure.

King Jonathan comes out of his vanilla funk in all his glory. Holy hell, I again agree with Grace that scene at 10% I was literally putty. Goddess Monica got her some Dominant Jonathan during that scene and then some. Pain plus pleasure equals many orgasms. Lucky girl!

“I haven’t told you this in a long time, so I want to remind you. You are mine.  Any time.  Any place.  Without questions.  You get on your knees when I say.  You spread your legs when I say.  You open your mouth and take whatever I put in it.  Do you understand?”

During the book, you sense how pensive Monica really is regarding Jonathan’s health. Their life together is so precarious and fragile. My heart went out to her. There was a point in the book that I totally lost it and was texting the girls and cursing up a storm. As much as Jonathan is a Dominant, when his loving side comes out, you just want to crawl into your e-reader and hug him.

I adore this couple so much. I missed them tremendously. They are that IT couple for me. I did not want Coda to end. I need more of King Jonathan and Goddess Monica.

– Michelle

Excerpt

“You know what, Monica, you don’t even know yourself. Look at you. I haven’t seen you this relaxed in months. The only time you let your worry go is when you give me control. And your worry is what keeps you from being honest.”

I swallowed. Blinked. A torrent of wetness welled behind my eyes, “I don’t want to break the scene.”

“Stay still. Stay naked. Speak your mind.”

“I almost died with you a hundred times. That recovery room, they had you in this induced coma and you looked dead. There were bags of blood. Bags, hanging over you and you were all opened up. And, I’m sorry, I haven’t said this because you’re the one who went through it.” I swallowed a gallon of tears. “I don’t want to see you like that again. But I think about it all the time. I dream about it. I see it when I close my eyes. I want you to live, so I do what I think is going to make you happy and I always get it wrong. Stay or go. I give you attention or none. It’s always wrong.”

“What about your happiness?”

“It doesn’t matter. Not as much as yours. It’s not life or death.”

“It is, Monica. It is.”

I shook my head. “You can’t convince me of that. We can do this hurtful honesty thing all day. You’re the priority and I’m okay with that. Deal with it.”

He nodded, looking down for a blink, then up at me. He reached for my wrists.

“These go behind your back.”

I did as instructed.

“Now, get on your knees.”

I bent them. With my hands behind my back, it was hard to balance.

“Do you need some help?” he asked.

“Yes.”

I thought he’d take me gently by the elbow, but dragged me down. He was right. I was relaxed, totally submitting and trusting him, loving every bit of discomfort he dished out.

“Spread your knees apart.”

I did, too slowly for him. He kicked them wide.

“Do you remember your safeword?” He asked, unbuckling his belt.

“Yes.” A tingling rush went down my spine with the promise of his dominance and the way it made me forget how fragile he really was.

His cock was out in the next second. “Open. Your. Mouth.”

Jonathan Drazen is a known womanizer; a gorgeous piece of

Yeah, he’s rich, beautiful, charming as hell, and he has a wit as sharp as a double-edged razor… but he’s made it perfectly clear that this is a short-term fuck. Three nights, tops, then we part like sexually satisfied grown-ups.

I believe him when he says he can’t love me. I’m not trying to fall in love, either.

We get in. Get it on. Get the hell out. Done.

Grace Review

Story: 4.5 stars
I read this series back in Sping 2014 as a group read. To say the texts between our group were heated, would be an understatement. We were all horny reading this series.  King Jonathan rocked our world, HARD!  Man oh man. *fans self*

While the titles of the first three books, Beg-Tease-Submit, describe the dance between Jonathan and Monica, they could also describe my thoughts as a reader while reading the books.

“Please Jonathan, please make her come!”
“WHY ARE YOU SUCH A TEASE, JONATHAN?!”
“I’m do anything, anything you ask Jonathan!”

Am I alone in these thoughts?

If you say yes, then you are lying! Really now.  I call a few select books, Porn on Paper.  This series would be one of them.  And yes, with the added audio, now I have Porn on Audio.  Both the books and audio are so descriptive, you really don’t need to images to get it done.

Are you picking up what I’m laying down?

There are books out there they throw in a sex scene with some dirty talking and call it smut.  This story, about Monica’s journey with Jonathan goes beyond, slowly seducing the reader.  The authors words are raw and poetic, which is why it creates the response in a reader like myself.  I literally did nothing else but read this series for 3 days.  And had a massive book hangover when I was done.  Jonathan left a mark on me, forever.

Performance: 5 stars
After finishing this audio, I wanted to do back-flips for this narrator.  But then I’d end up in the hospital and that wouldn’t be cool. So this will have to suffice:

I am floored, FLOORED, by this audio performance.  This story was sexy on its own, and this narrator gave life to it in a darkly sexual way, which was so fitting.  The words seemed lyrical at times, even when spoken.  An example is this sequence which end up becoming a song, appropriately enough.

What is he collars me? Slaps me? Spanks me? Bites me? Fucks me in the ass? Whips me? Hurts me? Displays me? Gags me? Blindfolds me? Shares me? Humiliates me? Ties me down? Makes me bleed? Fucks me up?

And if you sit back and realize what the author did, you will appreciate her talents even more.

Then there is the song itself.  Yes, this narrator sings the words of submission.  It’s haunting, sad, sexy and beautiful, all at once.  I’m pretty sure I had the permanent O face after it.  Sexy as fuck!

Often listening to smut on audio is a bit embarrassing.  I imagine it must be awkward for the narrator to fake an orgasm on audio. But this narrator, with her voice, seduces you throughout.  Whether it’s a whisper from Jonathan, a sigh for Monica, or the actual act of submission.  All of it creates a sexual intimacy for the listener.  I was captivated with every word, and yes, turned on.
I’m not sure how the next sequence will be with a male voice, but I hear it is even hotter, if that’s even possible.Overall: 5 stars
Whether you have read the series or not, this audio is a must!  It exceeded my expectations in every way.  Until Sequence Two comes out, I’ll be waiting, with a shit load of batteries on stand-by.

“Your knees, darling. Turn around and put them to use.”

Whatever you say, King Jonathan.

Synopsis

WARNING: This book contains delicious sex scenes with a hot man dirty-talking in Italian; women handling firearms and explosives; and scenes of violence with a crystal Virgin Mary cigarette lighter.

What happens when a mob capo falls for a lawful woman?

Does he ruin her, or does she ruin him?

Do they live together, or die together?

This is Antonio Spinelli’s story.

Shorties reivew

Grace: This book kicks off with a bang. Like WOW! I guess I’ll just put my panties over here.

Once I’ve come back to my senses, I realize we are back where Spin left off. Antonio’s (Spin) dangerous lifestyle is catching up with him. His former friend and partner, Paulie, gave him an ultimatum, and didn’t like the answer Antonio chose. A woman! Can you believe it?! But Therese is not just any woman. She is BADASS!

Michelle: Uhm WTF C.D., woman you really know how to make my heart race damn it. I freaking adore Theresa or the new Theresa and her feistiness. She really surprised me and I loved it. I loved how she literally got off on all the danger surrounding her relationship with Antonio. Theresa has fallen hard for her Capo, so much so that she is willing to give up everything to be with this man.

Here is my absolute favorite quote of Theresa when she goes see her douche of an ex-boyfriend, Daniel and gives it to him good:

“Respect isn’t treating me like I’m made of sugar. Because I’m not. I’m made of cum and saliva. I’m made of salty sweat, and I taste like fucking. I sound like an orgasm that’s so hard you can’t even scream, and I fuck like a closed fist.”

Grace: I am really sick of weak heroines, so this book was very refreshing. While Theresa might be more of an anti-heroine, that woman has some balls. She knows what she wants, Capo, and she’ll go anything, ANNNNYYYTHING, to have him.

She has powerful sexual confidence, and seems to relish in all the pleasure and pain that Capo brings upon her.

“Fuck me. Fuck me hard, you worthless piece of shit.”

YaYa: As per liking this heroine…I’ll be on the sidelines with my pompoms cheering for Theresa.

And then there is her Capo . . . this sexy beast.

Michelle: Antonio, what an animal he is, and I love it! He’s sweet one minute and all up in Theresa’s skirt the next. And the filthy mouth on him, can I get an Amen? Amen!

“You’re going to take those pants off. Then you’re going to spread your legs so I can see everything, and you’re going to tell me what they said to you.”

Want more?  Yeah, there’s more.

“You won’t weep from being hurt. Not from me. You’re going to shed tears from coming so hard you forget who you are. And when you return, you’ll remember you’re mine, and you’ll cry then too.”

YaYa: Capo, Yes, very sexy, dirty talking Alpha who gets what he wants. He’s CAPO. But this is what I like about CD’s writing…the Drazen Family. It’s what I focus most on.

Antonio is filthy alright, but he’s also doing changes of his own. Thinking of leaving the Mafia? I watched enough Sopranos to know that’s not possible.

Grace: Together, Theresa and Antonio are a dangerous combination. Their relationship has destroyed his relationship with Paulie, setting into motion the beginnings of a mob war. They know they are ruining each other, but despite the danger and the seemingly hopeless situation they find themselves in, with both of their lives at risk on a daily basis, they find it near impossible to walk away from each other.

I could ruin his life while I lived, but in dying I could destroy his soul. So I stayed. For now.

This book takes you through their scorching hot moments together. Not sure about the other ladies, but I had many thigh clenching moments while reading this. But there are unbelievably tender moments too, when you realized this is more than lust.

“How could I go back to earth, having kissed heaven?”

Beyond the sex, Therese tries to find her role in Antonio’s world. She wants to help and be more than a piece to abuse (much to her own delight). I liked how she used her background to uncover some problems in Antonio’s business.

While there are moments of distrust, Therese shows her Capo again and again that she will do anything for him. Remember what I said earlier, ANNNNYYYTHING.

“My destiny is to destroy.” “Maybe I was destined to be destroyed.”

Realizing their problems may be bigger than either of them can handle, they develop an elaborate plot. But our evil author lures you through the story, and with alternating POVs, you see that Capo isn’t always truthful with his Contessa. I was never quite sure whether he would live up to his promises, or leave her in hopes of protecting her.

YaYa: This shows the growth between them. What they are willing to do to stay together at no cost. I feel like in this book they are telling everyone that they will get what they want. I’m hurt that Capo was so doubtful and was planning otherwise. He shortly made my shit list for a minute there.

Michelle: I had some WTF moments and felt like C.D. was pushing my buttons with this book, but I get it. Ok C.D. I know you’re working on the next book I will patiently await for some more Capo and Contessa.

 About

CD
