Jordana Albanese grew up in a world spun with lies, secrets, and multiple sins. Her father, Gene—reigning king in the Mafia for the last decade—never protected her from his underworld dealings—La Cosa Nostra. She learned at a young age that in order to survive in her world, one must be dominant. She wore the shield of control on a daily basis, but she deeply yearned to slip it off and dispose of it. Except, letting it go would mean letting it all go. And she didn’t want that. She learned of a compromise—where she could only let go of control in private, behind a closed door, while receiving orders from him. Not simply to be controlled, but to be dominated. The only problem was that her ambitions cut bone deep. Deeper than a belt across her ass. Deeper than the marks from the restraints he used to subdue and pleasure her. The permanent marks left were not visible to the human eye. They were profound wounds—scars—on her soul that only she could experience and draw strength from.
And that’s where she found the perfect balance in the two. Her submissive tendencies served her well in the bedroom. While in public, she was every bit as dominant as her male counterparts.

“The moment of complete and utter submission, where he held all the cards, all the control, the moment of his absolute dominance…that moment was the high I searched for in my lows. The light I sought after in my darkness. And the strength I found in my weakness.”
What do you get when you combine the mafia with bdsm? You get The Power of a Woman. Jordana Albanese is a mafia princess with falls into a relationship with the heir apparent to a rival mafia family. It starts off as a relationship of convenience with no strings attached sex, each of them getting something they need from the other. Ever since the death of her mother, Jordana has had to bear the burden of being the sole emotional caretaker for her father and brother. In Stefan, she finds someone who can fulfill every dark fantasy she has and the only man she can surrender all control to in the bedroom. In the outside world, Jordana works hard to be viewed as something other than a weak willed, emotional female in a world that is dominated by violent and controlling men, but behind closed doors she yearns to be dominated by the only man who has authority over her.
“I loved all parts of sex—the rougher the better. And no one had ever given it to me like Stefan. He could do anything to me, and I’d love every bit of it. My body was no longer mine, but his…every last inch, including my heart.”
If Jordana’s kink is submission, then Stefan’s is most definitely domination. When his brother is murdered, Stefan is forced to return home and assume the responsibilities left behind by his brother as the next in line to the family business. He is the mafia prince groomed to take over. In his relationship with Jordana he finds the control he craves but lacks in his own life, the power that was stripped away by the responsibility forced on him and the constant danger he lives in because of his family’s lifestyle. Stefan is a new world mafioso. Smart, educated, methodical, and determined to make his own way in the underworld. When their secret relationship transforms from a purely sexual one to one filled with emotion and love, Stefan vows to bring Jordana to his side to rule over his new empire as his partner and his equal.
“I own you, Tesoro. And not just for tonight. You’re mine. Tell me you’re mine.”
I love mafia stories. I love the danger, the violence, the traditions, the rivalries between families. Throw in some forbidden romance and hot sex between two people from rival families and I’m in book heaven. This book started with a bang and caught my attention from the very beginning. I was interested in Jordana and Stefan’s relationship. Who they were, how they met, how long they’d been together. But about a third of the way through the story something happens that threw me all off. Jordana’s brother gets into some gambling trouble and owes money he can’t pay back. Jordana makes the decision to get him out of trouble herself and the way she handles it all had me completely baffled. From the very beginning I knew it was a terrible idea that would backfire on her horribly, and I couldn’t believe that a character that prided herself on being so smart could be so dumb. It colored the way I viewed her in a negative way afterwards, and every time she bemoaned how the men in her life treated her as inferior to them because she was a female when she was just as smart and capable as they were, I found it a little unbelievable because of her epically bad decision making skills earlier. As the story progressed though I found myself engaged again in the story mainly because of Stefan and the way he loved Jordana. The sex and their chemistry were the real highlight of this book for me. They had a desperate sort of need for each other that was both tender yet raw and intense. The Romeo and Juliet aspect added a level of drama and intrigue to everything which I loved as well, and I have to say that I was surprised how well Leddy Harper and Gina Whitney’s writing style complemented each other. All in all it was a very enjoyable read and if you’re someone like me who loves steamy mafia stories with star crossed lovers then I highly recommend this one.
“I’m fueled by love. And nothing is more powerful than a woman in love.”

“Don’t worry, Tesoro. I’ll make you forget,” he whispered as he stared into my eyes. Still seated deeply, he began to move. The sensation of him inside of me…filling me…overwhelmed and yet completed me in one thrust of his hips.
His fingers gripped my waist painfully—but I relished in the pain, knowing Stefan was the one causing it, and wanting more. However, I didn’t push my luck. He gave, and I graciously accepted.
“Say my name,” he demanded.
“Stefan.” I was confused, but played along, trusting him like he’d asked me to.
“Say it again.”
“Who are you with?”
“Who’s inside you right now?”
“You are.” That’s when I realized his intent. He wanted to remind me, force me to acknowledge that I was with him, not Zeke. I was safe and protected. He would not hurt me, and I had nothing to fear.
“Tell me who you belong to. Who this pussy belongs to.” He circled his hips methodically, punctuating his words.
“I’m yours. My pussy is yours.”
“No one else’s.”
“No one else’s,” I repeated his words back to him.
His lips attacked my neck—sucking, kissing, licking. “Tell me you’ll never offer yourself to anyone else ever again. No matter the reason. No matter what.”
This was what I craved—him between my legs, deep inside of me, his demanding mouth on my body. Endorphins dizzily swirled deep within me, making me forget the torment my body had been through for days. “It’ll never happen again. No matter what.”
“That’s fucking right.” He pumped deeper and my eyes rolled back. “Eyes on me, Tesoro,” he said gruffly. Sweat began to bead above his brow, and the sounds we made together were downright primal, carnal. He then began to push into me—harder, more forcefully and steadily—until my pussy began to milk his cock. “Oh, fuck. The way your pussy grips my cock… I will never get tired of feeling that.” He began to move at a blurring speed. His dirty mouth rested against my ear, spewing filth. The kind of filth that lifted me, not degraded me.
He reached down, carefully bending my leg up against my body for a better angle. Pain pinched in my thighs, but the way his hand caressed the ache, as if he knew it was there, soothed it. He ground himself into a screaming orgasm, the soreness in my battered canal bringing me my own pleasure. Instinctively, I reached out to him, needing to grab onto him, to anchor myself to him in some way. I began to free-fall and I didn’t doubt he’d catch me. His eyes met mine and something passed between them. I didn’t know what, though. He removed my hand, quickly kissing it.
Leddy Harper had to use her imagination often as a child. She grew up the only girl in a house full of boys. At the age of fourteen, she decided to use that imagination and wrote her first book, and never stopped.
She often calls writing her therapy, using it as a way to deal with issues through the eyes of her characters.
The decision to publish her first book was made as a way of showing her children to go after whatever it is they want to. Love what you do and do it well. Most importantly Leddy wanted to teach them what it means to overcome their fears.
She’s published six novels. Blood Ties, Beautiful Lies, Saving Abel, Forgiving Gia, Avenging Us, and Luca. She’s currently working on a joint project with Leddy Harper called The Power of a Women. This is tentatively scheduled for release December 6th and is a Mafia/BDSM themed romance. When she’s not writing, you can find her with friends and family. She resides in Massapequa, NY with her two beautiful boys. Reading has always been a passion and obsession of hers. You can usually find her typing furiously while shouting obscenities over her latest WIP. Her guilty pleasures are: a good laugh, being snarky, espresso, Pistachio ice-cream, alternative music, sunflower seeds, I.P.A’s, twizzlers, and above all steamy swooning angst filled novels.
