Synopsis round.jpg

Blaire didn’t know much about one-night stands, but she knew how they’re supposed to go. A night where inhibitions are thrown out, no names, no attachments, and in the morning you both go your separate ways, never to speak again. At least that’s what was supposed to happen.

Mother nature had other plans.

She established boundaries: No details, no more sex. But Joel was never much for following the rules. With a body built for sex and an appetite to match, one night with him would never be enough. Torn between the case that could make her legal career and a man who thinks of clothes as optional, how long could she stick to the rules?

So you’re at a bar with your girls, getting shit faced, see a hot guy down the bar, make eye contact, go to the bathroom, come out and see said hot guy just waiting for you.  Go home with said hot guy, wake up the next day with a severe hangover not remembering at all the night’s events, but notice you’re naked and your clothes are all over the room.  Wait for it, hot guy is sleeping in the bed next to you, WHAT!  Oh and now you’re stuck with said hot guy because of a sand storm that will be hitting up your area for possibly two weeks.  Awkward much?

“There’s no reason to be shy. We’re both adults here, pretty bird, and last night doesn’t have to be a one time thing. It’s not like we’re going anywhere.”

I first came across Cee Smith when I read her Stolen Donor series and I absolutely adored it but I have to say. I think Shut In is even better. The premise of it was so interesting. A workaholic meets a hot guy at bar, takes him home for a one night stand thinking that it’s a one time thing and they’ll never see each other again, only to find out in the morning that Mother Nature has different plans. An unexpected sand storm has them stuck together in her house for an indefinite amount time. Blaire is determined to enforce the “no sex” rule while Joel has…other ideas. Joel is hot, a dirty talker, charming, good in a crisis, and fucks like a freight train. And really, if you’re going to be stuck with someone for weeks there are worse people to be stuck with…or is there? *cue the dramatic music*

“Even drunk I could tell he was a man that either saw boundaries and didn’t care or saw them and purposefully trespassed—I didn’t know which was scarier, but there was still something thrilling in the way he unapologetically touched me. As if the touch of my skin compelled him to press harder, go farther, test the invisible boundaries set by two strangers.”

Well the sex was really hot, right Rachel?  Oh and can I say thank you to the author for giving Joel a Prince Albert piercing! Thank you Cee Smith!  It took me a minute to figure out who Joel was, but when I did, I was like “holy shit”.  Every time Blaire shared something about herself and Joel didn’t reciprocate, that’s when I started sensing something.  Rachel is the one with the best spidey sense.  I’m trying to figure Joel’s angle now, why hit on Blaire at the bar, so many unanswered questions and WTF moments left me pondering.  And before you bitch and complain about the cliffhanger, the author has promised to release the other two books 2 weeks after each other, so quiet.  I don’t know about you Rachel but I cannot wait to see what’s in store for us when we get to Shut Out.

I can’t wait to get my greedy hands on part 2, especially after that cliffhanger. (Cee how could you do this to us?!) Joel may be incredibly sexy but the man’s got secrets. Blaire was very forthcoming with details about her life, but Joel was locked up tighter than a nun in a chastity belt, and that made my spidey senses tingle and sent up warning flags all over the place. While it may seem sexy to be trapped in your home with a sex god with nowhere to go, on the other hand you’re trapped in your home with a man you know nothing about and you have nowhere to go. It’s basically an episode of Dateline waiting to happen. So many questions left unanswered about Joel. Who is he? Is he dangerous?  Did he know who Blaire was before he approached her at the bar? And yes Michelle, I’m dying for part 2 and thankfully Cee has taken mercy on us and we won’t have to wait long for it.

“How could a man so jovial, who read me as though I were an open book, hide behind the words that fell so easily from his lips? Wasn’t it always the easy-going ones who seemed to have the darkest secrets? Or maybe they were just better at hiding behind their carefree nature? Is that what Joel was doing? What secrets was he keeping?”

about round.jpg

Cee Smith is a lover of the written word. Since first learning how to string a sentence together, she’s been putting pen to paper and hasn’t looked back. Though she’s no longer obsessed with blood and gore, the dark side still calls to her, often finding refuge in her current writings. Her addiction to reading is what finally inspired her to take a chance at publishing.

A California native, currently residing in North Carolina with her husband. She loves salacious stories, true love and forbidden romances—the more angst the better. Other than reading and writing, some of her other obsessions are peanut butter (don’t get her started), Michael Fassbender, and watching tv.

She loves talking about the creative process and what books she’s reading, so feel free to shoot her a line. Or if you just want to say hi that’s fine too. She swears she’ll respond.
