Release Blitz (Book Review): 120 Days by M. Stratton

120 Days Bannerebook cover (1)

Synopsis

120 days… The average number of days someone stays at Last Resort.

17 weeks. Surrounded by love, laughter and support.

4 months more time than they had before they walked through the door.

Real estate developer Ethan McGregor’s life was changed forever when his younger brother told him he was dying of cancer. Ethan was ready
to do whatever it took to save Evan, but Evan had other plans.

Say goodbye…

Samantha Truman runs the privately-funded Last Resort. Watching her parent’s drive and determination to live longer than the doctors gave them was the inspiration for the resort. It is her heart and soul–she lives to make sure that each day is precious, and one more sunrise or sunset can make all the difference the guests at Last Resort need.

After finding his brother’s journal, and discovering more about Last Resort, Ethan is determined to find out if this place is one of those “too good to be true” places that turn out to be a scam. But he was not ready for Samantha Truman, he was not ready for everything to change, for his point of view in life to be so incredibly altered, for the world to turn its axis. There are, after all, some things Ethan can’t control, who to fall in love with is one of them.

How much can change in 120 days?

Michelle's Review

5 Butterfly Stars

As I am typing this review tears are still rolling down my face. I was introduced to M. Stratton (or Michele with one L, as I like to call her) by my fellow blogger, Yaya, last year. If you have read any of
Michele’s other books, well you are in for a surprise with a 120 Days. She can write a romantic suspense which will have you on the edge, or she can write a sweet contemporary series like The Star Series, For 120 Days she will not only make you grab a box of tissues, but will make you see life in a whole new perspective.

If you have read the synopsis, you already know this is a book about cancer, yet there is also a love story, but I am jumping ahead. Ethan McGregor is a real estate developer and his purpose in life is to make the next investment, well that is until his younger brother drops by and turns Ethan’s world upside down. Evan shows up to tell Ethan that he is dying and only has a few weeks to live. Basically, he was saying goodbye to Ethan. Evan’s last wish is for Ethan not to find him, to let him die with dignity. Ethan raised Evan after losing their
parents, he basically put his life on hold to make sure Evan would grow up in a home.
After Ethan’s brother passes away, he leaves him with his journal

about his time at Last Resort. Ethan wants to see the place where his brother spent his dying days. He also wanted to see first-hand if Last Resort was a good place or a place where the owner may be scamming the dying. Yup, Ethan was an asshole, at first.

Little did Ethan know that Samantha Truman not only ran a beautiful facility where those who came to live out they dying days, but would make sure they did it with lots of activities and most of all love.  Sam, as everyone called her, lost both of her parents to cancer. She wanted her guests to live out their dying days with fun and laughter.

Ethan shows up at Last Resort to work with ulterior motives, but once he sees for himself how truly happy the guest are and most of all, how truly devoted Sam is to Last Resort, his tune changes very quickly. Throughout his time there, he reads his brother’s journal which also helps him more motivated in trying to help Sam with Last Resort. Never would Ethan would have expected to fall in love either. I could go on describing this beautifully written story Michele wrote, but I want you to experience it for yourself. I would suggest you read in the privacy of your home because the tears will come and it will come in abundance. Towards the end, I had to message the author crying my eyes out.

This book made me think of my other whom I lost three years ago to pancreatic cancer. They did not give her much time, but her determination and perseverance had her living two more years from when she was diagnosed. My mother died a week after my daughter’s first communion. The day after my daughter’s communion, she asked me to put her in hospice. The last two days on this earth, my mother was surrounded by many family and friends. I saw my mother take her last breath while I held her hand.

Michele, thank you for this beautiful tribute to your parents. I pray that they are with you for many more years to come. It truly was an honor to read this book.

About the author M. Stratton is an International Amazon bestselling author in the romantic suspense and mystery suspense categories for her Storm Series and Bender. She lives with her husband and son in Arizona, which is a big difference from where she grew up north of Chicago Illinois. As an only child she learned to tell herself stories to make the long winters go by quicker while dreaming of summer vacations. Now as an adult she still makes up stories to pass the time, but now she writes them down to share with other people.

Stratton is a self-proclaimed dork who loves to make people laugh. Her inner rock star is always on stage performing to a sold out crowd, but she quiet and shy on the outside. She spends her days plotting new ways to surprise her readers.
