We all have that someone we can’t forget, the summer it all began, and the sleepless nights wondering what went wrong.

For Gage Montgomery, that someone is Layla Baxter. When he was 18, he took one look at the chocolate-haired bookworm with porcelain skin and knew his life would never be the same. But it all came crashing down when Layla suddenly and mysteriously disappeared from St. Simons Island — leaving him with nothing but her angel wing pendent around his neck. For 12 long years, Gage couldn’t shake what happened, if he’s the one to blame, wondering where Layla might be. When their paths finally cross, he’s determined to get the answers he’s spent his life searching for — and to get the girl, too. Quiet Angel is a story of hope, survival, and lost love made new again.

“I missed you, too, but you were never far.” Gage touched his shirt with the wings inside. “You were always there.”

Michelle's ReviewBefore I being my review, I finished reading this book on February 27, 2015 and on February 28, 2015, I read a post from Prescott that someone has pirated this book on IBooks. To the idiot who did this, shame on you! Ms. Lane has worked hard to bring us a beautiful story and then some moron who obviously cannot write their own story had to steal hers. Lately, this has been becoming a theme with regards to pirating and that is not cool. Ok enough of my rant on to my review.

The last time I read any of Prescott’s work was when I was still freshly new to After Dark wherein I read Perfectly Broken. Having read that book (and if you haven’t read it, I suggest you put it in your TBR), I knew I had to get ready for some crying and some good wine.

This Contemporary Romance novel is about second chance love. Layla and Gage meet 12 years ago while she was 16 and he 18 and on his way to the Naval Ccademy. Layla is visiting her grandmother over the Summer when a bunch of teenage boys were trying to put the moves on her, Gage intercedes and becomes her knight in shining armor. Gage and Layla fall in love that Summer, but circumstances has Layla leaving Gage after their first night of passion.

Moving 12 years later, who knew Layla would be running into none other than Gage at an airport in Houston. Get this, he’s the owner of the airline that Layla needs to get on and out of Houston. Their brief conversation on the plane makes you know that there is still love between these two. After a series of events, Gage and Layla end up trying to give their relationship another go, of course, Gage finally finds out why Layla left him all those years ago. Reading what happened to Layla was so sad. OMG how I hated her mother. Oh Gage, I adored him, yet I wanted to throat punch him at times. I understood his reasons in trying to protect Layla, but how he went about it, always ended him getting a kick in the pants. His heart was in the right place, I get it, but if you’re trying to rekindle your relationship, communication is key.

The story did not lag, it had a lot of heartwarming moments and well as some sad moments. I adored Layla’s friend Poppy. Poppy is a lot to take on, but I loved her no filter and said what was on her mind. Some people may not like that in a friend, I don’t mind that at all.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book and will continue to read Ms. Lane’s books. I will leave you with some of my favorite quotes.

This is not necessarily a quote, but Layla explaining her extent in the dating pool: In the last year alone, she’s gone from the guy who couldn’t make her orgasm, to another who needed some serious manscaping, to another who had a Call of Duty obsession.

Layla explaining to Gage her last night with him 12 years ago: ‘I knew I had to leave, but I wanted, I needed, to take those memories-your memories-with me. I needed to know that was possible, something to keep me alive, hoping for.”
