Book Review: Profile by JA Huss

Title: Profile (Social Media #5)
Author: JA Huss
Genre: Contemporary, Romantic Suspense
Length: 90 page
Rating: 5 stars

All the best fairytale princesses have the most horrific pasts. Mine just happens to be more horrific than most.

Fantasizing over Vaughn Asher was a dream. Meeting Vaughn Asher was a fairytale. Loving Vaughn Asher was my downfall.

The past is always there. Waiting. Waiting to expose you. Waiting to ruin you. Waiting to take you back.

Sometimes not even a prince can save you.

Grace Review
Hold on to your britches people, because you are in for a wild ride!

This book is a gut churning, suspenseful filled, heart wrenching look into the eyes of a deranged man and the terrifying impact of his actions.   I’d highly recommend you do a buddy read with this book, because you will want to vent and speculate about everything going on.

From the first page, you feel the horror that Grace endures at the hands of the delusional man, the same one who stole her youth years prior.  And speaking of him *shakes fist at author*, I want to mention how there was some major author trickery at play prior to this book.  That was when I opened my email last week with the promo post for Profile and saw a teaser with a major spoiler, or so I thought.  I promptly texted Michelle and YaYa to rant about it, but YaYa was the one that said there had to be a twist.  She thought author trickery was in play, and I didn’t believe her.  Dumb move Red.  OK, so I thought I knew who the psycho was, but I was wrong.  And I’m actually happy about that.  Because I love when the answer isn’t obvious, I relish every moment of a suspenseful book, and I love even more then the author pulls a fast one on me.

This book also explains the whole idea behind this Social Media series.  How Grace thru herself into the fantasy world of twitter to escape, in her case, the terrifying realities of her past.  Who can blame her, really.  I was surprised by Grace’s strength in this book, a new side to her I didn’t expect.  She finally fights back, and she fights back to win.

I’m not interested in dying to erase my pain and I’m not interested in playing his game.  This time, he’s going to play mine.

Continuing their alternating POVs from the previous books, we intermittently get a break from Grace’s traumatic moments, to Vaughn and his desperate search to save her.  What’s really fun about his book is how he, along his brother, Conner, and daughter Felicity help to track down Grace and the psycho.

There’s no possible way I won’t find you.  Our hearts are tethered by love & fate.  I’m tugging on that string – feel me?  #OnMyWay #Soulmates

Given how things end in this book, I am absolutely desperate for the last book, Home.  So many unanswered questions about what will happen with between this couple.  And as if that isn’t enough, the author throws one last twist at the end.  Vaughn has another secret.  Jeeeeessssuusss!!!!  Arrrrrrrggggghhhh!!!  #GiveMeHome

Parting thoughts: Just as with the other books, the author had some very insightful thoughts in her End of Book Shit.  Didn’t like Vaughn in book 1?  You weren’t meant to.  That’s just one of the many things she discusses, with some thoughts that really surprised me.   If I could scan the whole write up for you to see, I would, but it truly made me look at this author in a different light.  I’ve been a fan of the author since I read Taut (the first book I read by her), and this well-plotted series only further cements my status in her fandom.
